It is also a good idea to start Tooth Mousse 2 weeks prior to teeth whitening treatment.

What is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening (or bleaching) is a simple, non-invasive dental treatment used to change the colour of natural tooth enamel and is an ideal way to enhance the beauty of your smile.

Is Teeth Whitening suitable for everyone?

Teeth Whitening is suitable for most people and is particularly successful in removing unsightly stains left by smoking, coffee, and certain foods.

Teeth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the newly bleached teeth.

Is Teeth Whitening Permanent?

Teeth whitening is not permanent. A touch-up maybe needed from time to time, and more often if you smoke, drink coffee, tea or red wine and eats food which have turmeric or food colour.

  • Prior to the actual procedure, we will carry out a dental check-up to ensure your teeth and gums are healthy. You will be advised of any condition that may prevent us from carrying out the teeth whitening treatment. It is recommended to have a clean at this stage to achieve the best results with your whitening.
  • At your whitening appointment your gums and lips will be protected from the bleaching agent to reduce the risk of sensitivity following the procedure. Any sensitivity that does occur usually disappears within 48 hours.
  • The results will vary for each individual depending on the natural shading of your teeth and the level of discolouration and staining present prior to the procedure.
  • We recommend starting the use of sensitive toothpaste or Tooth Mousse at least two weeks prior to your whitening appointment to help with any sensitivity. We also recommend having 2 Nurofen Plus one hour prior to your appointment to help with any sensitivity during your treatment.

FAQs

The bleaching solution used for teeth whitening can cause some sensitivity with some patients. We advise to start using sensitive toothpaste or Tooth Mouuse prior to any whitening procedure for approximately 2 weeks and to continue to use it after the treatment to help with any sensitivity.

The in chair whitening is a higher concentration of the bleaching solution and with this can cause more sensitivity with some patients. We advise you to take 2 nurofen plus one hour prior to your appointment to help with any sensitivity during the treatment and to also follow the advice for all bleaching procedures to start with the sensitive tooth paste or Tooth Mouse 2 weeks Prior to your appointment.
